About the author
A proud father of three young children who are blessed with two cultural backgrounds – a Tanzanian father and their mother’s Australian heritage (and where the young family calls home for now).
After struggling to find accessible resources and materials, Kadebedebe was keen to work out a solution to enable his children – and many others like them – to learn the quirkiness, beauty, and fun of Kiswahili – Africa’s fastest growing language.
The idea for Swahili Children’s Books and the it’s mascot, Baba Bata, came from many a fun bath times – first with Hope, and now the younger two children Grace & Ezra – where stories about ‘Baba Bata’ would set the young imaginations alight. Baba Bata set off on discoveries around the watery world…journeys that always ended with him going back home with a new story to share (home was somewhere near the sink plug!)
These times were a wonderfully refreshing end to a day in the office. Kadebedebe reveled in the opportunity to let his imagination run wild as they young family made-up stories in Swahili using all manner of bath and water toys as props.
We hope you enjoy the products Swahili Children’s Books offers as well as, in the near future, reading the adventures of Baba Bata as much as Kadebedebe and his family do.
